Newark & Sherwood Business Energy Grants 2026
Newark & Sherwood District Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and is targeting net zero for its own operations by 2030. Its business decarbonisation grants were funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which closed in March 2026 — here is where things stand, and the solar funding routes that still apply.
Where the district's business grants stand
Newark & Sherwood District Council's Business Decarbonisation Grant — grants of up to £5,000 for small businesses, with a 10% match contribution — and its Business Growth and Productivity grants were funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. That fund closed to new applications on 31 March 2026, so these schemes are not currently taking applications. Check the council's business support pages for anything new.
Funding routes that still apply
- Annual Investment Allowance (AIA) — 100% of qualifying solar spend deducted in year 1, up to £1m a year.
- Asset finance — spread the cost while owning the system.
- Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) — no upfront cost for larger sites.
- Workplace Charging Scheme — up to £500 per socket for staff and fleet EV chargepoints.
