Steve Moran is Australian-born and spent 17 years in Australian mining and industrial roles — operations, equipment, plant management — before entering UK solar. He spent years at Project Solar (UK's largest domestic installer) before co-founding KMM Energy Solutions in January 2023 with Kieren Myler. The mining background shaped a pragmatic, ROI-first approach to capital decisions that he brought directly into solar PV. At Project Solar he worked his way through senior surveying and commercial roles, but became increasingly uncomfortable with the tension between high-volume quote velocity and genuine customer ROI — solar systems designed for the salesperson's commission, not the customer's energy independence. He co-founded KMM to deliver consultancy-led rather than volume-led service: bespoke, ROI-modelled, owner-led installations focused on helping customers build their own power stations.
