Where the Rural Business Grant stands
Lincolnshire County Council's Rural Business Grant offered £3,000 to £25,000, up to 75% of project costs, to help rural businesses adapt and recover. It closed early because of demand and is not currently open, and solar panels were not one of its listed project types. Check the council's grants and funding pages for any new scheme.
Funding routes that still apply
- Annual Investment Allowance (AIA) — farm and rural businesses can deduct 100% of qualifying solar spend in year 1, up to £1m a year.
- Farm capital grants — watch the Rural Payments Agency for a new round; England's Improving Farm Productivity grant covered around 25% of rooftop solar before Round 2 closed in July 2025.
- Asset finance — spread the cost while owning the system.
- Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) — no upfront cost for larger sites.
